For years, the families and friends of prisoners have remained in the shadows. Families United for Prison Reform was created to bring about change, not only to laws and policies, but also to public perceptions regarding prisons, prisoners, and the criminal justice system. We are people: mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, grandparents, and friends. We represent every demographic in the State - we are of all races, religions, professions, educational levels, sexual orientation, and economic status. We are committed to a united front in all of our efforts, and to not exclude the rights of any particular group for the "benefit" of another. What we have in common is that we all have loved ones incarcerated in California and we are dedicated to the rehabilitation of our loved ones and seek to decrease the alarming recidivism rate of parolees in our State. From our unique perspective, we seek to heal and repair, not just blame and punish. Families United for Prison Reform is working to provide a comprehensive plan of reform, which includes our two partner nonprofit corporations: VOICE - Victims Overcoming the Indignity of Criminal Exploitation |
