The Increase in Prisoner Rights Statute would, if passed, accomplish the following:
- Make overnight family visits a “Right” for ALL Prisoners.
- Make regular contact/non-contact visits a “Right” for all prisoners.
- Require the CDC & R to provide prisoners with a minimum of 56 hours of visiting.
- Require that prisoners receive a minimum of four (4) telephone calls monthly.
- Require access to a hobby, handicraft, or music program for all prisoners.
- Give prisoners the right to correspond and or meet confidentially with the news media.
- Give prisoners a right to a minimum of 25 hours of outdoor exercise per week.
- Make the receipt of quarterly packages from friends/family a right.
